Keith Braxton for Delegate

Keith Braxton for Delegate

A life-long public servant who has mentored many young men and women both on the field and in the classroom, I believe all people are capable of success and it is the obligation of society to help them reach their full potential.

Who is Keith Braxton?

Keith has had a long career as a mentor and public servant to those in his community, and he has always been a values driven leader. He began his career of leadership as a coach for the VMI Keydets, and went on to lead many teams across divisions and colleges to successful seasons. Eventually, Keith found his passion in teaching, where he taught and continues to teach students at Patrick Henry and Atlee High School.

What does Keith Braxton want to do?

I want to help make every-day living more affordable for our working families. Being a teacher, I understand how important our working class families are, and what tools they need to succeed. I want to make sure we are doing everything we can to support businesses and families in Virginia.

Schools

Schools should be valued and utilized as a way to prepare our next generation of citizens to enter the world as creative thinkers and leaders.

More Funding for SchoolsThere is an under appreciation of teachers in Virginia, and one of my top priorities would be to help make sure our teachers are given the support they deserve and require. My top priority would be to oppose any program that would hurt our public educators and push them away from public institutions.

More Funding for TransportationEvery student should be able to arrive at school easily and on time. We need to address the shortage of bus drivers and difficulties in reaching all students.

Universal Free LunchNo child should suffer at school due to their families’ circumstances. We should do everything we can to provide free and cheap lunches to those in need to reduce the burden on our parents.

Family

Pro Choice – I believe that the government has no place in the doctor’s office. Virginians should be free to make their own personal healthcare decisions.

Freedom from Religion – Religious freedom is a core principle of not just our state, but our nation’s life. People in Virginia should be free to worship in any manner they see fit, regardless of faith.

Supporting our working class households – I believe that every change we make should be driven by the vision of supporting our working families. Whether that be policies towards school, or paid parental leave, everything we do should be to support our working houses.
